The Moor piazza resounded to the strains of music of various kinds throughout Saturday afternoon and two good causes benefited by £250.
01 Setting Up
The organiser, Tim Richards, secretary of Falmouth Toc H, explained. "I was protesting on the eve of war with a placard saying 'More time for Inspections', when a couple of gents who had been celebrating came and gave us a mouthful, pointing to someone who had a son serving in the Gulf. As an old TA soldier, I am not anti-forces and Toc H itself emerged from the carnage of WW1, so I wanted to do something to bring some healing to the divisions that the war has caused both here and abroad. Therefore the money raised will be divided between SSAFA Carrick who are doing good work with Gulf War syndrome, of which I fear there will soon be more cases because the same injections have been given, and the rest to Oxfam for Iraqi relief work."
02 The First Cut
After a warm-up by Dave Bacon on his hurdy gurdy, the Mayor, Cllr Maureen Davies, opened the proceedings and took the first cut of Mr Richards' beard which he was prepared to lose in a good cause.
03 Jake & Emily
Jake Jones and his sister Emily then performed some of her excellent compositions and proved what a talented family they come from.
04 Paul & Dave
Jake returned later with Dan on guitar and, finally, with Paul Anthony who also treated the crowd to a lively folk set with Dave Bacon.
05 John, Marion & Roger
More excellent folk was provided by John and Marion from the Top House at the Lizard, accompanied by Roger Strange on harmonica.
06 Human Mistake
Mrs Olive Young from Newquay read two heartfelt poems, one about the sad losses from Culdrose, and the other about the effects on Baghdad.
A young band from Luxulyan, Human Mistake, made an impressive debut...
07 Ron Smith
... and were followed for a spell by Ron Smith's expertise on Northumbrian pipes.
08 Audiosoup
Audiosoup did a fine set which showed their jazz, funk and latin influences...
09 Audiosoup (from backstage)
...Guitarist Simon performed well beyond the call of duty, with a bleeding finger...
10 Audiosoup (Audience)
...They have only recently formed but the end result is a very tight sound and I'm sure we'll hear more.
11 Scaramanga
Another excellent young band were Scaramanga who entertained with an eclectic mix of rhythms despite a switch of roles by the lead who did a great job on bass. The full line up must be good.
12 Kernow Calling
Finally, Kernow Calling did a surprise set in tribute to The Clash and the late Joe Strummer...
13 Kernow Calling
...Their high-energy delivery was matched by fine musicianship and stagecraft.

15 Dancers on the Moor
Kate Ormrod of Oxfam said, "We have had an afternoon of good music and will use our proceeds to help restore water to Southern Iraq".
