“Celebrating Chick Corea”

Tristan Mailliot has been at the forefront of the London jazz scene for many years and holds Chick Corea as his all time favourite jazz composers and pianists. He is joined by the fantastic young saxophonist Tom Ridout and two very accomplished musicians from the South West: Tom Ball on piano and Jim Rentoul on bass.

Together The quartet will explore a selection of compositions by legendary pianist Chick Corea who came to prominence in the late 60s with Miles Davis and who left a legacy of more than seventy albums as leader and composer when he passed away a few years ago.

From the popular Latin influenced classics such as Spain and Armando’s Rhumba to the lesser known Morning Sprite , the introspective Futures or the modal jazz of Humpty Dumpty and Snapshot the varied set combines swing and hard bop influences, intense latin rhythms and some of Chick’s favourite standard ballads the music will reference all six decades of Chick Corea’s monumental musical legacy.

All the best
