Aurelius is a London based trio led by bassist and composer Marcus Penrose, performing original compositions by Penrose and pianist Will Butterworth as well as standards from the American songbook. Their debut album, The Process, released in 2018, garnered international acclaim. The trio’s music is marked by melodic richness and harmonic depth, combined with a fluid sense of rhythm, embracing a trust and knowledge of each others playing achieved from over 20 years of musical collaboration.
