Fairport Convention is, of course, renowned as the band that invented the British folk-rock genre. From its formation in 1967, the band has been constantly writing and performing and in 2002 won the coveted BBC Radio 2 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Fairport’s greatest strength has always been playing live. This tour of the band’s semi-acoustic line-up brings their music to smaller venues where audiences can enjoy the performance up close and personal. The members of this four-man version of Fairport are Simon Nicol (guitar, vocal), Dave Pegg (bass, backing vocal), Chris Leslie (fiddle, mandolin, vocal), and Ric Sanders (violin).

The show is a mellow mix of old and new. Songs from their new album Over The Next Hill (described by Mojo magazine as “simply their best for 25 years”) feature alongside the classic Fairport repertoire. The show starts at 8.30pm and tickets are £15, available from the box office on 01326 211222.
